Migraines and headaches

It is important to understand that the treatment of headaches and migraines can be complex and individual. Many people have reported that certain changes in diet and lifestyle can help reduce the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.

There are different types of headaches:

Tension headache: This pain is pressing and throbbing, usually felt on both sides of the head.

Migraine: Intense headache that comes in attacks and occurs on one side of the head. The attack can last for a few hours or up to several days.

Cluster headache: These come in several periods of attacks one after the other. Each attack lasts from 15 minutes to a few hours. Cluster headaches first appear with pain in or behind one eye.

Headache: Then there are headaches that can be related to infections such as colds.

According to The Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies, 1.5 million Swedes suffer from recurring headaches (migraines), where WHO has classified it as one of the most difficult diseases to live with. Factors that trigger migraine attacks include stress, lack of sleep, strong odors, loud noises, and bright lights. People who get migraines are both men and women, but in women, it is three times more common. The cause is believed to be both hormonal and environmental, with often a genetic connection and heredity. Many migraine sufferers often have a relative who also has the same problem.

Here are our tips for preventing migraines and headaches in your everyday life:

1. Reduce stress: Try to reduce stress in your life through activities such as walking, yoga, relaxation exercises, or mindfulness.

2. Regular exercise: Exercise can reduce tension in the body, but avoid intense workouts as they can trigger migraines.

3. Sleep and meals: It is important to get enough sleep and have regular meals. Lack of these can trigger migraines.

4. Eat clean and nutritious food that strengthens and heals the body. Good nutrition such as superfoods, fruits, and vegetables help the body balance. We especially recommend Detox Deluxe and Belly Boost to strengthen the immune system and cleanse the body of stored toxins.

5. Avoid triggers: Just as good nutrition can help you get rid of headaches, there are foods that can trigger or worsen them. This can include alcohol, processed foods, energy drinks, fast food, sugar, and coffee.

6. Check your birth control pills: Some birth control pills may be unsuitable for those with migraines, so consult your doctor about this!

7. Headache diary: By using a headache diary, you can identify patterns that can help you understand and prevent migraines. Write down the date, what you did before the migraine, how you slept, what you ate, if you were stressed, and other relevant factors.

Here we have created a simple headache diary that you can print out and fill in: Headache Diary.pdf

Understanding what causes your migraine attacks and trying to make lifestyle changes based on this can help reduce the risk of new attacks.
